Today we went to Las Vegas Motor Speedway. What a place!

Here's a panorama I took with my phone. It's a 1-1/2 mile track and two people broke the old track record. The new track record is over 190 MPH average for a lap. For those that have never been to a race, I can tell you I was impressed with how fast the cars are going, TV just doesn't do these cars justice.

Here are some pictures of the cars at the track.

For qualifying they cut the track as close to the grass on the final lap. A couple of cars actually had their wheels in the grass when they were in practice.

The cars weren't the only things that were of interest at the track. Nellis AFB is right there and they put on a show all day long.

The Police were there too, but I have absolutely no idea why.

This motorcycle was at the Red Rock Harley shop.

This one was at Treasure Island Casino.

We saw Batman and The Joker on the strip.

This toy hauler belonged to one of the drivers. We didn't get to see which one, but this is typical of the drivers.

Most of the drivers had PR work to do after they were done with today's track work so many of them were out late. They have someone drive their buses to the track, someone drives the cars to the track and someone drives their souvenirs to the track. When they show up, most everything is setup and ready to go.

Tomorrow is the NWS race.
